Touch and Drive
WallNTRP 3.0–4.010 minforehandbackhand
Why this drill
One ball, two speeds. Alternating a firm drive with a soft absorbing ball teaches control of pace — the difference between hitting shots and playing tennis. Feel is trained by contrast.
Setup
Five to seven meters from the wall, net-height line marked.
The drill
Alternate two shots continuously: a DRIVE — firm, above the line, rebounding all the way back to you — then a TOUCH — soft, still above the line, dying short so you must move in and drive the next ball from closer, then back up. Play 60-second rounds, counting line violations and lost rallies. Five rounds; fewer mistakes each round.
One thought to take on court
Soft hands come from a soft grip — change the squeeze, not the swing.
