Drive, Volley, Repeat
WallNTRP 3.0–3.510 minforehandbackhandvolleyfootwork
Why this drill
Alternating a bounced drive and a no-bounce volley builds the groundstroke-to-net transition inside a single rally — the wall version of coming forward behind your approach.
Setup
Start five meters from the wall, net line marked. You'll drift a step forward for volleys and back for drives — that drift is the drill.
The drill
Strict alternation: drive after one bounce, step in and volley the next rebound out of the air, step back, drive again. A drive-volley pair scores one; count pairs, chasing eight in a row. Three attempts at a best streak, then switch leading wing.
One thought to take on court
Feet do the alternating — hands stay quiet. Step in to volley, back to drive, and let the pattern live in your legs.
