Catch and Hit

WallNTRP 2.0–2.510 minforehandbackhand

Why this drill

The beginner's bridge to wall play: hitting and catching in cycles slows the wall down to a learnable speed. Racquet skills grow between the catches.

Setup

Four to five meters from the wall, net-height line marked. One ball, no hurry.

The drill

Drop-hit a forehand above the line, let the rebound bounce, catch it. Reset, repeat — ten cycles. Then hit-hit-catch: two live balls before the catch, ten cycles. Then three. When ten three-ball cycles are clean, graduate to continuous rallying and the Wall Ladder drill.

Catch the ball in front of you at waist height — the catch position is tomorrow's contact point.
