One Up, One Back

Why this drill
Grooves the volley against real groundstrokes and groundstrokes against real volleys — the two rhythms club players face constantly in doubles and rarely practice deliberately.
Setup
Player A at the net, center. Player B at the opposite baseline with a few balls. This is a cooperative control drill — about 70 percent pace.
The drill
B drives balls at A; A volleys everything back deep to B. Rally continuously and count touches — a combined streak of twenty is the first target, thirty the second. A aims volleys alternately to B's forehand and backhand to keep both wings honest. Swap positions every four minutes.
One thought to take on court
Volley with your legs and shoulders — the hands just present the racquet face. Punch, never swing.
