Tiebreak Ladder

Why this drill

Nerves aren't a personality flaw; they're an undertrained skill. Playing consecutive tiebreaks with escalating stakes rehearses the exact heart rate of a real one — cheaply, weekly.

Setup

Normal court. A sequence of three seven-point tiebreaks, each with a rule that raises the pressure.

The drill

Tiebreak one: normal rules — establish a baseline. Tiebreak two: the loser of each point serves the next (pressure follows failure). Tiebreak three: start at 4–4 — every point is big from the first ball. Between tiebreaks, each player states aloud one thing they'll commit to (first-serve spin, returns deep middle). Track your three-breaker record over weeks.

Between points, breathe out longer than you breathe in, and pick your one target before you step to the line.
