Four Corners Serving
Why this drill
Below 4.5, placement beats pace — a modest serve to a corner outplays a big serve down the middle of the box. Four targets, forty balls, four numbers to beat next time. This is the drill that should anchor every solo session.
Setup
A hopper of 40+ balls. Lay flat targets — cones, a racquet cover, a towel — in the wide and T corners of both service boxes: four targets total.
The drill
Ten serves per target in a fixed order: deuce-wide, deuce-T, ad-wide, ad-T. Full motion, real intention, no rapid-fire — walk back between serves like a match. Score each target out of ten (a bounce that touches the target or its cone-width counts). Log the four numbers. Next session begins with your weakest corner.
One thought to take on court
Pick the corner, then trust the toss-to-target line — never serve "just in."
