Self-Rally

SoloNTRP 2.5–3.510 minforehandbackhandfootwork

Why this drill

A rally with yourself down the length of the court: loop a ball high, chase it, loop it back the other way. Footwork, shape, and touch in continuous motion — the closest solo practice comes to a live rally.

Setup

An empty court (or any open space forty-plus feet long), one ball.

The drill

Hit a high, soft loop down the court, run to where it will bounce, and loop it back the way you came. Continue — a rally of one player and two directions. Count consecutive playable balls; ten is skilled, twenty is mastery of touch. Alternate wings as the ball dictates.

One thought to take on court

Hit UP through the ball softly — your target is a spot on the sky, and height is what buys your legs the trip.
