Second Bounce Test
SoloNTRP 2.5–3.515 minforehandbackhand
Why this drill
Depth measured without cones or a partner: a groundstroke whose SECOND bounce carries past the baseline was deep. The court itself becomes the grader — the most elegant solo depth drill in tennis.
Setup
Hopper at the baseline center. The far court, empty. Nothing else.
The drill
Drop-hit groundstrokes down the court and watch each ball's second bounce: past the far baseline scores one; short of it scores zero. Twenty forehands, twenty backhands. The test rewards the heavy, penetrating ball — pace AND height together — not the careful floater. Log both scores out of twenty.
One thought to take on court
Hit through the ball with a long finish — the second bounce exposes whether your swing actually went anywhere.
