Lob Reset

Why this drill

When you're dragged deep behind the baseline, the heroic winner is a donation. The high, deep reset lob is the professional answer — it buys seven seconds and resets the point to neutral. Club players simply don't own this shot; this drill installs it.

Setup

Player A at the baseline with balls; Player B starting at the center hash. A's job is to hurt; B's job is to survive.

The drill

A drives B deep into a corner with two or three strong balls; B answers the hardest one with a high defensive lob — four meters of net clearance, landing past the service line — then recovers to center. Play six-ball sequences; B scores a point for every reset that lands deep. Ten sequences, then swap. This is defense practiced on purpose.

One thought to take on court

Open the racquet face and swing up through the ball with full commitment — a tentative lob is just a short ball with altitude.
