High-Low Rally
PartnerNTRP 2.5–3.510 minforehandbackhand
Why this drill
Club rallies die when the ball changes height — the moonball that draws an error, the low skidder nobody bends for. Alternating heights on purpose inoculates you against both.
Setup
Baseline rally, full court, cooperative.
The drill
Alternate strictly: one high, heavy loop that clears the net by three to four meters and lands deep, then one flat drive that crosses barely a meter over the tape. Your partner does the same, so every ball you receive is a different height than the last. Count pairs; ten pairs without an error is the benchmark.
One thought to take on court
Adjust with your feet before your swing — the height change is a footwork problem disguised as a stroke problem.
