Fan Drill
Why this drill
Court movement in the exact shape a baseline point traces — out to the wide ball, back through the middle, up to the short ball. Shadow strokes at each station make it tennis, not just running.
Setup
Five cones (or balls) in a fan around the baseline center: wide forehand at the sideline, mid-court forehand diagonal, short middle at the T, mid-court backhand diagonal, wide backhand at the sideline. Base is the center mark.
The drill
From the base, move to a cone with match footwork, shadow a full stroke, and recover backward to base facing the net. All five cones is one set — about twenty seconds of work. Four to six sets, 45 seconds' rest. Full strokes at every station; token waves don't count.
One thought to take on court
Face the net through every recovery — shuffle or carioca back; never turn your back on an imaginary opponent.
