Alley Rally
Why this drill
Down-the-line accuracy is what turns defense into offense — and it is trained by shrinking the court. Rallying inside the 4.5-foot doubles alley makes the full court feel enormous afterward.
Setup
Both players at the baseline, standing in the same doubles alley. Every ball must land inside the alley on the other side.
The drill
Rally down the line within the alley. Phase one is cooperative: count consecutive alley balls, chasing a streak of eight, then twelve. Phase two is competitive: first to 11 points, where any ball outside the alley loses the point. Play one side, then switch alleys so both wings get the work.
One thought to take on court
Swing along the line of the ball with a long finish toward your target — accuracy comes from a long contact zone, not a careful swing.
